2018 Okinawan Weekend, Middle Island, NY

This event was a must attend. The first time for Tamaki and Tokashiki Senseis visit to the United States. Sponsored by Kyoshi Jerry Figgiani and the Black Belt Academy of Middle Island, NY, accorded both of these gentlemen to visit and conduct training in Shogen Ryu Karate. Both of these senseis were direct and original long time deshi of O Sensei Shoshin Nagamine, creator of Matsubayashi Ryu. Due to political disagreements, Tamaki and Takshiki Senseis separated and created Shogen Ryu after the passing of Takayoshi Nagamine. Remaining true to the essence of karate do and the teachings of their sensei, the absence of ego and rank while pursuing the true meaning of Budo is their focus. Practitioners from all over the world were in attendance. Great people, demonstrating, humility, comapasion, understanding and awesome competance in Okinawan empty hand was the daily agenda.
